Amygdala is a new band from San Antonio and The horror of not being able to forget is their first EP (released last year). What they play is some very intense and hardcore somewhere between screamo and crust. rawer and most ferocious than usual screamo, more sophisticated and melodic than basic crust and with vocals that have something screamo but are also something else because those screams are so fiercely impressive, with an almost feral feel. Those vocals, from a female singer, are maybe what's the most striking about this band. But they also show good songwriting skills. One of the best hardcore release I listened to recently.

Meth Leppard - Demo tape (2015)
Meth Leppard is a new grind duo from Adelaide (Australia) wih guys from Powerxchuck and Seminal Embalmment, they are releasing (with Bloody Scythe Records) a demo tape (limited to 100 copies). This demo happens to be very good old school grind in a Napalm death vein (and I'm not saying that just because the last track of the tape is a cover of "Siege of power"). the demo is six song (five originals plus the ND cover), and there's no filler. The production is good, especially for a demo (but is a tape released by a label still a demo? anyway...). Their main strengh is the riffs which are really good, bringing some good grooves and a "catchy" feel in a good grind way. The songs are short and fast, but with mid tempo parts that will helps the riffs to crawl into your ears and brains. This is a really good first release, simple but highly enjoyable grind.

Gas chamber - Hemorrhaging light (2014)
Curious to hear how could sound some "progressive noise powerviolence"? Then just listen to Gas chamber (from Buffalo, US). Their latest album Hemorhaging light (released in 2014) is rooted in powerviolence but stays far away from the standardised form you find in nearly all PV / Hardcore / punk /metal albums. You'll find some short songs with a structure close to usual powerviolence, and those songs are really aggressive and good. And then you'll have songs with the powerviolence / hardcore elements but with parts bringing melodies (with the guitars or with female vocals in one song) or what sounds a bit like "free noise rock / post-rock" (with a bit of electronic noises here and there). And that makes the album a very exiting listen, full of surprises, far from another samey hardcore album. This album is unique, excellent and very exiting and enjoyable to listen to. Highly recommended!

Anekdoten - Until all the ghosts are gone (2015)
Until all the ghosts are gone is Anekdoten's return eight years after their previous album. Has the years weighted on their music? No, their third album is as good as the others. The swedish band still plays some dark prog rock influenced by King crimson and with a heavy but good use of mellotrons. But i'd say this time there's less rythm weirdness and more melodies, but as usual they never sink into technical demonstrations, they are all about the atmospheres, and it is still their strenght. The excellent cover art of the album suits very well its bizarre and melancholic but slightly ominous feel. Until the ghosts are gone is another very fine piece of prog rock with a dark mood.

Endon - MAMA (2014)
Japanese music at its craziest and most fucked up. And that is saying a lot. This japanese quintet called Endon is one vocalist, one drummer, one guitarist and two noisemakers. And MAMA their first album, released last year could be the soundtrack to a million, ever changing, nightmares. They call their music "Catastrophic noise metal" but I'd say that's a quite mild description, it's actually more extreme than that. Throw in the most ruthless noisegrind, harsh noise / dark ambient parts (those are the "quiet" and "soft" parts!), some black metal drumming and riffing, chaotic hardcore / noise, howls, growls and anguished screams. And you get one the most radical album for the last two years. Saying it's intense and confrontationnal would be a huge understatement. But don't think it's an interesting album just because of it's extreme nature, no this is really clever and well-crafted music. Standard grind and standard noise music are too often predictable and boring, Endon takes the best of both worlds to make music of their own, something really exiting. It's is produced by Atsuo from Boris. A big thanks to Fucked by noise, for making me discover this great album.
Highly recommended (if you're brave enough)!

Vorum - Current mouth EP(2015)
Vorum is a death metal band coming from the Aland islands (in the Baltic sea) and Current mouth is their new release, a 20minutes EP (5 short songs). It follows their first album, Poisoned void, released in 2013. This is old school death metal to the point there's a lot of trash metal in it, and more precisely Slayer comes to mind, with the riffing and the manic soloing (in that maybe we could compare them to Abyss). It's more fast and trashy than their previous releases and maybe that's why Current mouth is my favourite. This is old school extreme metal at its best. It sounds perfectly chaotic and evil while still being "catchy" in a trash / death way. Recommended!
