The Young Gods - Appear Disappear (2025)

Yes, The Young Gods sounds eternally fresh, neither from the past nor in the present, but in their own time dimension. And every album is a new variation in their blend of industrial rock/metal and psychedelic rock, and... their own stuff. On their new one Appear Disappear we get more nice songs with heavy guitars, grooves, but also plenty of subtle atmospheres, melodic and/or trippy in their own special way. With good vocals either in French (they're from Switzerland) or in English, with poetic lyrics. Strongly recommended, as usual!

Ramleh - Hyper Vigilance (2025)

Hyper Vigilance, the new Ramleh album keeps the psychedelic noise rock formula of the two previous albums, but is also enriching it with new elements and more diversity overall. The main new thing is the use in several songs of acoustic guitars, bringing a somewhat neofolk feel at times, with also more vocals, and on the other hand there are some harsher industrial/noise moments, making it maybe the most interesting of recent Ramleh albums. In any case, it's another awesome addition to their fantastic discography. One of my favourite album for this first half of the year. Totally recommended!

Merzbow - Hatonal (2025)

I don't review harsh noise very often, not because I don't like it, but because it's difficult to write about it. Trying to describe it seems a bit pointless. Noise is something you have to feel... What to say about this one? Merzbow aka Masami Akita is among the pioneers and great masters of noise, maybe even people not into it have seen or heard his name mentioned, maybe listened to one of his collaborative albums with rock/metal artists. On Hatonal he's doing his stuff, noise with just enough variations to keep you listening and enjoying it. Might be a patience test for most people, a pleasure for some, and in any case, an interesting listening experience.

LOTU - Arachnid (EP 2025)

I don't know much about LOTU, but all you need to know is that his Arachnid EP (4 tracks) is an excellent slice of bass music, going from industrial dub to dubstep, each track having a different flavour, dark, deep, heavy and trippy. Good stuff.

NECROTECH - Necrotechnology (2025)

Necrotechnology is the first release (with Sentient Ruin Laboratories) from Brazilian industrial metal trio NECROTECH. Only five tracks, including an intro and a kind of (somewhat dark ambient) interlude, and we could say it's mostly Godflesh worship. But it's well done, and I really enjoy it, and look forward to hearing what they can do on a longer release, maybe following some directions that are hinted on Necrotechnology : dark ambient, noise, black metal, trap? Who knows, but it could be interesting... but for now I recommend you give a try at this promising first release.

The Bug - Machine (2024)

Last year, The Bug (producer Kevin Richard Martin) released a series of five EP called Machine, from I to V, and then compiled some of its tracks on this Machine album released by Relapse. As expected from The Bug, it delivers the best dark and industrial dub. This time it's all instrumental, perfect for feeling the power of the beats and getting lost into the pulsating bass. Strong stuff!

The Body - The Crying Out of Things (2024)

The Body have been sucessfully experimenting in collaborations with many artists, but it's also good to have them back with a new album on their own (their ninth). The Crying Out of Things sounds a bit like a return to the basics of their  industrial / noise with drums, guitars, screams and electronics sound. But like always they also introduces something new, and I'd say here it would be the use of background synths, bringing at times discreet melodies and at times an additional layer or colour to the overall atmosphere of the song. But no worry, it is enriching their sound, but without making it losing its raw and noisy feel. 25 years after their beginning, The Body keeps on evolving and delivering albums as good as ever. Thank you guys! Keep going!

Andrew Nolan & God Is War - The Hunt (2023)

Seems grindcore is a good school for industrial music, we had Mick Harris, JK Broderick, but there's also Andrew Nolan (ex The Endless Blockade, also doing Intensive Care) who is building a nice discography in industrial / dub music. His collab with God Is War (dark electro / industrial producer), called The Hunt, is a nice piece of illbient music a dark mix of industrial / dub / hip-hop). Recommended stuff!

The Body & Dis Fig - Orchards of A Futile Heaven (2024)

Yes, Orchards of A Futile Heaven is another collaborative album from The Body, this time with DJ and vocalist from Berlin Dis Fig (Felicia Chen). As expected, it's good, and it's especially recommended to people that like The Body music but are put off by their monotonous shrieking vocals. Here Dis Fig is doing most of the vocal, and she's did a great job, a lot more melodic and diverse, but also visceral and intense, fitting well the abrasive, dark and industrial sound produced by the trio. Among the most successful collaborative albums with The Body.

STATIQBLOOM - Kain (2024)

This new STATIQBLOOM (Fade Kainer) album, called Kain, is a fine piece of dark-electro/industrial/EBM. Often heavy and hard-hitting, but not without subtleties in its sound, it will satisfy anyone into dark electro/industrial music.

Shapednoise - Absurd Matter (2023)

Second album from Shapednoise (Berlin based Italian producer Antonino Pedone), Absurd Matter is a finely crafted piece of industrial dub / illbient. And featurings from Armand Hmmer and Moor Mother are always welcome. Interesting stuff.

Fausten - Mercenary (2022)

Fausten is Julian Caraz and Derek Szeto, and what they do toghether is what we could call industrial bass music (with elements of illbient, dark industrial, dubstep, etc.). They are back with a second release called Mercenary, nearly ten years after their first album, and they prove they still have it.And closing with a Fret (Mick Harris) remix can't be wrong either... Recommended for anyone into dark and heavy industrial/electronic music.

Godflesh - PURGE (2023)

PURGE is the new Godflesh album, six years after Post-Self. It's like a good condensed of the whole Godflesh discography, with the core elements laid since Streetcleaner, to the more ambient parts we had in Post-Self (and reminding Jesu), but with also the coming back of more jungle/hop-hop elements we had in Us and Them (and other JK Broadrick projects like Techno Animal). It will please all the Godflesh followers and is also a good one to discover the band, featuring all Godflesh has to offer. Another strong addition to the Godflesh work and no doubt the main industrial metal release at least for this spring/summer.

8 Hour Animal - Kill Your Boss (2023)

On Kill Your Boss, second album from one-man project 8 Hour Animal, again released by Sentient Ruin Laboratories, the music gets more industrial metal and EBM, and less power electronics. In any case, it confirms that 8 Hour Animal is a nice addition to the harsher side of the industrial scene.

The Blood of Heroes - Nine Cities (2023)

Nice to have The Blood of Heroes back for a new album, Nine Cities, and with the same brilliant crew :  JK Broadrick, Mick Harris, Enduser, Submerged, Dr. Israel, plus a few good guests as well. As expected, they deliver top quality industrial / bass music with a dark and futuristic atmosphere. If you liked the first two albums you won't be disappointed by this one. Heavily recommended!

Laibach - Sketches of the Red Districts (2023)

I know Laibach is a very old band, but I must admit that I discovered their music with this new album, Sketches of the Red Districts. And it definitely makes me want to check the rest of their discography. Going from dark ambient to industrial rock, mostly instrumental, but also with spoken words parts, this is top quality, smart and subtle industrial music. Recommended !

The Body & OAA - Enemy of Love (2022)

At first I've been disappointed by this album, we can distinguish the somewhat glitch/jungle electronic of OAA in the music, but overall Enemy of Love sounds very close to the bleak industrial doom The Body are doing on their own. But after a few listen the tracks get into my head, and even if it's less different than some of their other collaborations, I have to admit that it produced a good album, and I enjoy it as such. Not their most interesting release but a good one nevertheless.

Sightless Pit - Lockstep Bloodwar (2023)

Lockstep Bloodwar is the second album from Sightless Pit, a band with Lee Buford (The Body) and Dylan Walker (Full of Hell), but this time without Kristin Hayter (Lingua Ignota). The vocals are now done by many guest vocalists. The whole thing is rooted in industrial / noise / illbient, but there's a lot of diversity, and it goes from more ambient to very aggressive through trip-hop to trap to power electronics and vocals going from singing to rapping to growls. Often surprising and interesting. But I'd say would have been more memorable as an album with more cohesiveness. You often feel like you're listening to a mixtape, more than to an album. But why not. I'll keep following what they'll do next.

The Bug - Absent Riddim (2022)

This new The Bug (Kevin Martin) album called Absent Riddim is 17 different versions of a beat/riddim thta at the origin was for a Absent in Body remix. With a different vocalists on each tracks. Usual Kevin Martin collaborators and others. Impressive crew (J.K. Broderick, Dälek, Roger Robinson,Dis Fig, Ethan Lee MacCarthy, Nicholas Bullen, Moor Mother, and Nazamba and Jaimie Brach who sadly both passed away during the making of the album). The album is also paying tribute to one riddim Jamaican dancehall albums. Convincing exercise from the great master of industrial dub, and from his guest vocalists as well.

Intensive Care - Antibodies (2022) + That We Be Made Worthy (2022)

Couldn't decide which one of these new Intensive Care releases review, so I'm doing both... Antibodies is release by the excellent Iron Lungs Records, and I think That We Be Made Worthy is self-released. Intensive Care is a Canadian duo with Andrew Nolan, ex Column of Heaven and Endless Blockade. What they do can be described as an industrial mix of noise rock and power electronics, and if you're into these kinds of sound I guarantee you'll dig it. Also recommended are the recents Andrew Nolan solo / split releases (he's been very active this year and I sure won't complain about it).
