Sete Star Sept - The Judgment by Reaper (2023)
Japanese noisegrind duo (drums and bass/vocals) Sete Star Sept keeps on recording and releasing a lot, and that's good : sometimes there's a less memorable release, but at least each year there's an excellent one! The Judgment by Reaper is among one of those. Short and fast songs, heavy and catchy basslines, over the top drumming as usual. It's a good one to discover Sete Star Sept, and one you don't want to miss if you already like them. Enjoy the madness!

Sete Star Sept - Bird (2021)
Bird is the new release from Sete Star Sept, 14 songs in around ten minutes of free/noise grind from the bass/drums Japanese duo Kiyasu and Kae. As intense, wild, relentless and fast( but precise) as SSS use to do. Recommended!

Sete star sept - Sacrifice (2013) review & interview
Sete star sept is without a doubt one of the most radical and original noisegrind act. the japanese duo fuse screams and noisy bass attack with some furious "free grind"drumming. the result is as chaotic and intense as you can get. with half a minute blast of sonic violence. their latest LP Sacrifice is 24 of these sonic explosions. all killer, no filler. even if it's not the most noisy or chaotic Sete star sept records it's still incredibly wild and grind. I love it. one of my favourite Sete star sept release.

Sete star sept drummer, Kiyasu, answered to my questions by mail, read the interview below :
-what about your new record called Sacrifice? it seems to me that
compared to some of your other records it's a bit less chaotic and
noise, a slight bit more straight grind, do you think so?
Kiyasu: Yes, i think so.
songs in Sacrifice album are straight grind. more easy to understand
how do we play our songs than other releases.
noise freaks might feels these songs are too clean sound.
-when you wrote songs for a record do you start with a global idea of
the record or is it more just a collection of songs? when you do a
record a bit different is it on purpose or does it just happen so?
most songs made by chance while we were in the studio session.
we always try to make weird songs.
-what about the artwork for sacrifice, does it has a specific meaning
in japanese culture?
it's not specific meaning in japanese culture. the artwork for
sacrifice drawn by Edi Mirror who lives in indonesia. he gave us
original artwork when we were touring in indonesia. he is great
illustrator and also play harsh noise sometimes. one of my best
friend!!
-you are releasing a lot of music, with Sete star sept and other
bands, are you a full time musician, or is it just the need to express
a non stop flow of creativity?
i'm not full time musician. i need to work sometimes for
living in japan.
I earns part-time job at the minimum of money.
I've been making and playing music the rest of the time.
-what about the other bands you are a part of? can you tell us a few
words about the music of these bands?
i play drums on avant-Rock band "Fushitsusha" and Free jazz
band "Kiyasu Orchestra".
OK, i explain you these bands using few words
Kiyasu Orchestra - Free Jazz, fast, improvise
Fushitsusha - Hard Rock, Original method
-currently Sete star sept is touring in Europe with Satan, what are
your feelings about this tour?
we've never been to western europe before. really excite it! and
it's first time to tour with other bands together in europe.
-you shared a split with Satan, how did you get to know them?
i got email from Mika/SATAN to release split 7inch together in 2010.
he is also running record label called Witch Bukkake Records.
we released the 7inch from his label. it was our first release for split 7inch.
-are there some other french bands that you like?
Adolf Shitter
-Which evolution would you like to see for underground music in the future?
i can't imagne about the future.
but i would like to be good relationship with my friends who are
getting into extreme music.
and i just keep enjoying and recording noise music.
-what in planned for Sete star sept in the coming months?
we might to release two special releases for SETE STAR SEPT 10
years anniversary.
it's new 7inch EP and 10 tapes box set.
and we are going to tour in 6 weeks US/Canadian tour on August/September then
Australian tour on November, Japan tour on December.
-one final "full of wisdom" sentence to close the interview?
Feel beyond noise! noisecore everywhere!

Sete star sept / Nahu - Phantom / The suneater (split 2014)
this one 's a cool split between two asian grinding duos. Sete star sept(side called Phantom) from Japan and Nahu (side called The suneater) from South Korea. Helicopter records from South Korea is releasing the CD format.
Sete star sept is a very, I mean very, special band. it's Kae screaming and making as much noise as possible with her bass guitar and Kiyasu is drumming like a blastbeating grinder, but with also the hardest free jazz drumming influences. punishing and smart. noisegrind can't really go farther from easy listening..but this doesn't prevent Sete sept star from being a really interesting and enjoyable listen. if you want to read what I already posted about them (including an interview), HERE it is.
Nahu is a guitar / drums duo playing some powerfull grind / death, the straightforward brutality and groove of death metal coupled with the speed and nervous agression of grindcore. very catchy songwriting and crushing delivery. I discovered Nahu with this split but won't fail to listen to their others releases!
recommended split!
check it on Bandcamp.

Sete star sept - Vinyl collection 2010-2012 CD (2012)
Sete star sept is a japanese duo (bass / drums) that displays a great inventivity in merciless audio terrorism. They are masters in playing blasts of noisy grind that melts the deadliest elements of fastcore and harsh noise. Many of their songs ( or miniatures since they rarely last more than 45 seconds!) starts with a larsen and end with a larsen and in the meantime you get blasted with loud noise, blast beats or nice "violent free jazz" beats, noisegrind bass guitar attack and screams. all that played with a nihilistic careless punk attitude that really fit with the music. and the most incredible is that you'll like it and keep coming for more!
Their vinyl records released for the last two year are now released on a 75 min CD by Fuck yoga records.
It features the songs from :
-split 12" w/ GENERIC DEATH
-split 10 w/ NOISE
-split 7" w/ PENIS GEYSER
-split 7" w/ CSMD
-split 7" w/ SATAN
-split 7" w/ ROTGUT
-4-way split 7"
-"gero me" 10"
-and a live set from KFJC
this is a really crazy sick record, but also a really funny and cool one!
you can listen to some tracks on the Fuck yoga website
and here's Sete star sept website
Their drummer Kiyasu Ryosuke answered to my questions by mail, read it below :
-can you tell us a few words about the beginning of Sete star sept ? Is
the band really different now? do you intended from the start to play as
a duo?
SETE STAR SEPT is Vocals/Bass and Drums's 2-picese band from Japan.
Kae is playing on bass and vocals.Kiyasu is playing on drums.
in past, the band started from 2004 as Kiyasu on Vocals for 3-pieces band.
then we've changed the current lineup in 2009
-do you play or have played in other band?

-you
play a really extreme kind of hardcore/ grind / noise, Japan is known
for being forward thinking for these styles, were you influenced by
other Japanese bands or not especially?
i influenced from The Gerogerigegege.
80's and 90's japanese noise/noisecore bands are so cool.
-seems to me that since Revision of noise you evolved toward even more apocalyptic / chaotic songs is it so?
songs in "Revision of Noise" are sound like old scholl grindcore song.
but now,we are getting into how to make fucked up songs.
-what is the writing process of the songs?
i make bass riff as draft then we do jam session for couple of times.
the song will continue to completion.
-a few words bout the release of the 2010-2012 compilation on Fuck yoga record?
this is true grindcore!
-were these two last years an important time for the evolution of Sete star sept?
yes, we were able to return to the origin of SETE STAR SEPT.
-are you preparing a new record (or some new records)?
we are preparing 2nd album. we've done recording all tracks for it.
and we have some upcoming new releases. i will announce it on our facebook page or blog.
