PISSGRAVE - Malignant Worthlessness (2025)

Malignant Worthlessness is the third PISSGRAVE album. Their trademark intensity remains (as well as their... special taste for cover art), but maybe this time their super filthy and brutal war metal has more "colder and blackmetalish" moments than previously. Solid album again anyway if you like when metal gets very raw and barbaric.

Cacophonous Incantation - Implements of Hell (2019)

I really hope Implements of Hell won't stay the only release from Cacophonous Incantation, since I really enjoy it. I like their deathgrind/goregrind filled with vicious riffing and catchy grooves. Nothing groundbreaking, but they're excellent at doing it.

 

NECROTECH - Necrotechnology (2025)

Necrotechnology is the first release (with Sentient Ruin Laboratories) from Brazilian industrial metal trio NECROTECH. Only five tracks, including an intro and a kind of (somewhat dark ambient) interlude, and we could say it's mostly Godflesh worship. But it's well done, and I really enjoy it, and look forward to hearing what they can do on a longer release, maybe following some directions that are hinted on Necrotechnology : dark ambient, noise, black metal, trap? Who knows, but it could be interesting... but for now I recommend you give a try at this promising first release.

Defeated Sanity - Chronicles of Lunacy (2024)

Chronicles of Lunacy is the seventh album from Defeated Sanity (more than 30 years after their beginnings), and, maybe except a slightly rawer production, not much has changed. But that's fine with me, they didn't really improve over their previous albums, but still, what they deliver is more than enough to keep them among the apex predators of brutal and technical (very brutal and technical) death metal. Obviously recommended.

Groin - Paid in Flesh (2024)

Groin music is fast and straightforward, and my review of the latest album from the trio from Ariona will be the same. Paid in Flesh delivers quality powerviolence/grind just how I like it, and obviously I recommended it warmly.

Xenotheory - Blissful Death (2024)

On this second album called Blissful Death, Xenotheory from Paris mutated their "alien slamming deathcore" into something that I would say lost in hardcore impact in getting a bit more repetitive and monotonous, with less change of paces, but gained in (dark and futuristic) atmospheric depth with more stress on the synth soundscape and the building of a massive wall of guitars for a result somewhere between slamming brutal death, Meshuggah and Cryo Chamber style dark ambient. Probably a smart move since it distinguish them more from most brutal/slam bands, another good album in any case.

Ghost Dubs - Damaged (2024)

Ghost Dubs is German producer Michael Fiedler and Damaged is his first album as Ghost Dubs, released by Kevin martin label PRESSURE. Of course you can expect quality industrial dub, and this is what you'll get, but expect something less heavy and dark than The Bug, something more in an ambient/drone vein. A nice hazy atmosphere, with subtly noisy and ominous tones. Good stuff.
