Rahaty - Bestial Lustmord (2026)

From the Bandcamp page : "Rahaty is the alter ego of Belarusian raw black metal tomb-walker Pa Vesh En, here wielding the unholy hellfires of death metal's most deranged and enigmatic dominion." Bestial Lustmord is indeed a strongly blackened piece of death metal, cavernous, at times dissonant, and with also a feel of chaos/war metal at times. My only complain is that the album is too short for its immersive potential to really catch. Good stuff anyway.

Grave Infestation - Carnage Gathers (2025)

Carnage Gathers (a joint release by Invictus Productions and Dark Descent Records) is the second album Canadian Grave Infestation and will be a feast for anyone into old school death metal. Think a mix of old shool US DM, bits from early Slayer (circa Hell Awaits / Reign in Blood), and a touch of war metal for the additional chaos and aggression. Good stuff!

Tetitanblood - From the Visceral Abyss (2025)

The fourth album from Teitanblood, From the Visceral Abyss definitely has the chaotic energy of war metal, but in a more sophisticated way than a band like Revenge, it's less raw and bestial, and the atmosphere is less pure hatred and contempt but more the burning of a dark mystical flame. In any case it's a great piece of intense and twisted evil and epic metal, recommended!

PISSGRAVE - Malignant Worthlessness (2025)

Malignant Worthlessness is the third PISSGRAVE album. Their trademark intensity remains (as well as their... special taste for cover art), but maybe this time their super filthy and brutal war metal has more "colder and blackmetalish" moments than previously. Solid album again anyway if you like when metal gets very raw and barbaric.

Eggs of Gomorrh - Wombspreader (2022)

Wombspreader is the second album from Switzerland's Eggs of Gomorrh, another frantic assult of black/death/war metal, barbaric and viciously evil, in a vein reminding Arkhon Infaustus. Good stuff.

Impaled Nazarene - Eight Headed Serpent (2021)

Eight Headed Serpent is the twelfth album (once again with Osmose Productions) from the legendary Impaled Nazerene and I'm a bit surprised it's the first one I review here since I love their music since I discovered them in the late nineties. But they haven't been very active in the last ten years, and I started Blasting Days in 2012 (and had been disappointed by Vigorous and Liberating Death in 2014)... My favourite IN albums are the ones in which they balance their war/black metal punk aggression (they say "nuclear metal") with a more rocking and epic feel with some heavy metal melodies, like from "Nihil" to "All that you Fear". Eight Headed Serpent is, on the contrary, one of their more straightforward album, sounding like a return to the black metal/punk brutality of their early days. OK, why not, it's indeed very Impaled Nazarene, and they're good as well like this.

DeathEpoch - Abysmal Invocation (2020)

DeathEpoch is a new Polish duo whose first album Abysmal Invocation is a combination of war metal and dark ambient / power electronics / industrial tech. A combination that seems "natural", but that is actually quite rare. In Abysmal Invocation it works well, but maybe it would have gained if the two elements were more blended in the songs instead of a mere succession of nearly normal war metal songs (with a slight industrial feel in the guitars) and electronic/noise intros and interludes. So it's an interesting and good first try, but I'd say they should go further next time. That been said, it's a promising debut and I recommend you give it a try if you're into these kinds of sonic extremism.

Trench Warfare - (2019)

First album for Trench Warfare from Texas, and an excellent one. Hatred Prayer is old school death metal with also a strong touch of  bestial/war metal and, like it should, their music sounds really nasty. Fast, straight to the point, crushing with evil brutality. Vibrant and very well-crafted old school extreme metal.

Revenge - Strike. Smother. Dehumanize (2020)

Revenge have a special place in extreme metal. Their "war metal" is pure and concentrated extreme metal at its most brutal, chaotic and low-fi. Black/death pushed to the point it's nearly grind. And that with an unpredictable and unconventional playing (especially the drumming of leader James Read) and songwriting that makes it very special. In their new album, Strike. Smother. Dehumanize there's even a kind of barbaric groove making its way among the merciless beating. Once again, Revenge delivers one of the most intense and memorable metal album of the year.

Ruin Lust - Choir of Babel (2020)

With their third album, Choir of Babel, the New Yorkers of Ruin Lust found a nice balance/mix of components : a bit of old school USDM of a heavy crushing kind (think Immolation and Incantation), a bit of modern suffocating death metal (Impetuous Ritual, Ulcerate) and a large dose of war metal (Revenge, etc.). Raw, savage and merciless. Good stuff!

Eggs of Gomorrh - Outpregnate (2019)

Outpregnate is the first album from the Swiss Eggs of Gomorrh and it's a fine piece of war/chaotic black-death metal, six tracks in 16 min closing with an Arkhon Infaustus cover that fit perfectly the music they play. Recommended if you're into this kind of metal.
