Hørdür - Bistre Repetita (2023)

Bistre Repetita is the second album from French grind trio Hørdür, five years after the first one.

This is a solid piece of poweviolence / crust-grind and if that's the kind of stuff you like it will be a good pick.

Warfuck - Diptyque (2023)

I already liked Warfuck first release more than ten years ago (did a review and interview, in French, back then) and the grind duo kept getting better release after release. And that's also true for the new one, coming in April, Diptyque (released by the also excellent LIXIVIAT Records), more dense, more brutal and more technical, still with grindpunk/crust vocals giving an oldschool grind touch, and drumming and riffing definitely more post Nasum / Rotten Sound modern grind. Even the "rapmetal" track with French vocals is a success. They confirm they are among the main bands of the French grind scene alongside Blockheads, Chiens and Whoresnation. Recommended!

Civilian Thrower - Trebuchet Showroom (2022)

Trebuchet Showroom is the first album (after a demo and splits (with Vile Species, Grotesquerie, Global Horror, Proudhon, etc.) from Civilian Thrower (a French trio with the singer of Whoresnation and members of Hordur, Lovgun and Morbid scum). What they do is on the more old-school and punkier side of grind (vocals and drumming are totally grind, but the riffs are mostly crust) and they do it well. No bullshit, raw and intense old-school grind! If you're into that kind of stuff, Civilian Thrower is definitely a band you need to follow. Also, I saw them play and I can testify they're also a good live band (go to the shows guys!).

Blockheads - Trip To The Void (2021)

Blockheads never disappoint. And their new album, Trip To The Void, is no exception. This sixth album,  to be released November the 15th by Bones Brigade Records & LIXIVIAT Records have been recorded, mixed and mastered by Steph Tanker in his Disvlar Studio. Blockheads have been delivering the best grindcore for 30 years and Trip To The Void is proof they still are at the top and still are a perfect embodiment of pure grindcore. Total grind intensity in 25 songs and 28 minutes. There is little doubt that Trip To The Void will stay as the best grindcore album of the year.

LØVVE - After the rain the sun comes out (2020)

LØVVE is a young French band and After the rain the sun comes out is their second album. Their music is somewhere between old school hardcore and powerviolence/grind. It is straight to the point and done right, with all the intensity needed. Good stuff.

HØRDÜR - Hubris (2018)

HØRDÜR is a new French grind band, and Hubris (released by the also new, good, and French grind label LIXIVIAT Records) is their first album. They play some old school grind, raw and simple, with a drumming alternating d-beats and blasts and some riffing with some neocrust and black metal kind of melodies (this is not super melodic as you guess, but I mean this is this kind of riffs...). They are good at doing it and if you like the more old school and punkish kind of grind you will very likely enjoy this album. I do!
